About B. Misty Wycoff
Poet, Writer, DreamTender, Public Speaker
Words have always been central to my life. Initially it was woven into teaching, and being a therapist, which manifested for decades in a successful and lively private practice. When I retired, I found that another river of words was flowing within me. Since a very young age being a clinical therapist was how I saw myself, and I have, and still do, love the work. Words, communication, relationships, and recovery all live at the heart of my career, my first avocation. I have done post graduate work in psychology, Dreamwork, Jungian therapy, and Chemical and Behavior Dependencies. These days I take a select few clients to do phone sessions (See Consulting). I have nearly 50 years of experience and a broad base of training.
Currently, the emerging life for me is about claiming my writing and allowing that voice to speak. Joseph Campbell said that to complete the Hero's Journey we must: Enter the dark wood, Face whatever is presented, and then Return and tell the tale. We have all been thrust into the dark wood and are stacking up experiences, knowledge and meeting new challenges daily. Now the task becomes finding a way to come back to our earthly clan and sing the songs of those external and internal journeys and visions. These days, what that looks like for me is catching the words and bringing them to paper.
I have four books in print and feel as though I have just begun. I believe we all have a stream, creek, or estuary waiting to float us downstream, to the big waters, where we merge our lives with the collective of shared humanity. How we tell the tale will look different for each of us. What we seek is to let the river bathe us in our vision and authentically bring us home.

Sometimes things happen in our lives unexpectedly, powerfully and it knocks us off balance. I had over 40 years in Private Practice and although mostly retired, I am now available selectively for some phone consulting work.
